Bird species increased to 230 in Hersek Lagoon

20 December 2020

Following the last census in Altınova Herzegovina Lagoon, the number of bird species increased to 230.
The Hersek Lagoon, which is one of the most important wetlands of the Marmara Region in terms of bird diversity, adds value to the population increase as it is on the African-European Bird Migration Route.
As a result of the regular bird watching studies carried out in the field, the night heron belonging to the heroic fish family "Nycticorax nycticorax" was observed and recorded by the Altınova Municipality Bird Watcher Fatih Bülbül. Thus, the number of bird species in the Herzegovina Lagoon reached 230.
